Yandex gets exclusive rights to show BBC Studios’ content in Russia

MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- Internet company Yandex has received exclusive rights to show content of U.K. television production and distribution company BBC Studios in Russia and the CIS under a long-term agreement, Yandex said on Friday on its website.

“Today along with BBC Studios we announced a new agreement under which (Yandex’s) service KinoPoisk HD will exclusively show more than 100 hours per year of brand new premium dramas, comedies and children’s films by BBC,” the Internet company said.

The partnership also stipulates that Yandex will create content based on BBC Studios’ script formats.

The option will be available to subscribers of KinoPoisk and Yandex.Plus.

KinoPoisk HD will exclusively show all 12 seasons of popular series Doctor Who on subscription. The new season will be released in the online cinema on January 2, 2020, the next day after its premiere on BBC.
